I bought it as it looks, an abandoned project. It looks ready to paint but it is very far from it. Both door skins need replacing as they'd been filled and bubbled up once more. The front panel has to come off as the radiator support panel is rotten as a pear and the rear valance had been repaired at the bottom with plates. That came off to reveal corrosion in the inner rear panel (which we cannot buy) and has already been repaired with the outer valance now replaced. All in all, I have quite a long way to go with the shell yet, but it has to be right as it's the very foundation of the car.
Anyhow, I won't hijack your thread any longer, I will begin one of my own on this car but good luck with yours, I hope no surprises lurk in panels you can't buy.
Regards
Steve

Thanks again Steve, I hope so too, and like you I will deal with what ever is thrown at me!! I have had it to long now not to!!! I bought the car the month my first daughter was born in 82, she is getting married next year and wants it at her wedding. That is some incentive eh!!! Good luck with yours..
Here are some pictures I have just been e-mailed of it after the burn up!!!! More to follow soon I hope.
I saw an MGC there a few weeks back that had just come out of the oven, when you rubbed the bodywork the paint came off like ash.....
I believe its in the tank now so all the paint has been removed.
Hopefully........................ it will look a lot different when I collect it!!!
Picked up my car body and bolt on parts on Friday... They have made a nice job of the paint/rust removal!!
Luckily there are fewer holes than expected!!! will post more Photo's later.
The more examples of the Thermal stripping process I see the better I like it, try to imagine how many hours would be needed to get the shell looking like that by hand ! Sometimes it's not what things or processes cost that's most important, it's what they do.
Hi Len, no I cant to be honest, next step is to make a list up and try to source the parts... There are some items that I definitely know I need.
Micky I did consider stripping it myself by hand but thought better of it, glad I did because I could never have got it as good as this....
To all, does anyone know where I can purchase an original n/s rear wing, 2 outer cills and an o/s inner cill?
An amazing job. The shell looks amazingly sound as well which must be a pleasant outcome.
The windscreen post repair is well documented on here by a few of us now and an obvious job to do but other wise it looks great!
