On Sunday, North Lancashire Stags went on our first John Whittaker memorial run through some of his favourite Lancashire Scenery. Passing Stocks Reservoir, Gisburn Forest and White Scar Caves near Ingleton we finished up at the Wensleydale Creamery at Hawes for a very nice lunch there. Nine Stags made it on the day, a very sociable run covering well over a hundred miles of the finest and most varied countryside on mainly rural roads.

Took the Stag on a TR event over the weekend - based at Cranborne, Dorset.
The agenda included visits to Old Sarum, a private museum and dig site on Cranborne Chase, a dawn visit to Stonehenge (including being able to walk amongst the stones!), a charity car show at Wilton House - all in the company of a TR owning professional Archaeologist, and sleeping in Viking Longhouse for two nights!

Our trip from Sussex across to Dorset on Friday afternoon saw us driving through rain, hail and sleet - just East of Winchester the sleet was so heavy we couldn't see where we were going, and within 5 minutes it was 4 inches deep on the A272!
If the weather forecast for Friday and Saturday had been better we would have gone in the TR2, but as it has aeroscreens and no mechanism for a hood, we're glad we didn't as we would have drowned/frozen to death on the way across!

Travelling back via the main roads on Sunday afternoon - M27 and A27 - we saw a green stag (and lots of minis and mini derivatives) heading west along the A27, between Chichester and Portsmouth. Time of sighting ~ 16:10 - 16:15.

At the risk of setting the War of the Roses into motion, I feel bound to point out that 'favourite Lancashire scenery' includes a good deal of God's own county's finest - Ingelton and Hawes being in Yorkshire, ha ha!

Not that I've noticed Mole! Although, on a sombre note, after the events of last night northern and national solidarity is alive and well when things really matter.

I took the opportunity of the good weather, to replace the starter motor to get rid of the Stag clunk. Seems to be working so far.

I also fitted a drivers side bonnet release to supplement the near side one. Combination of bicycle brake adjuster that dropped straight into a hole as if designed for it and a replacement cable from RobSport.

If you look under the dashboard, you'll find threaded holes ready to go with a captive nut on the back.

Some years ago I changed my Starter Motor for a heavy duty one thinking that would get rid of the "clunk" I was getting every now and again.

I thought it had cured it at first, but although I no longer get a "clunk", about every 100th start or so I get nothing at all as though there has been a complete electrical failure.

However giving the starter motor a hefty single thump she starts again fine, and this happens intermitantly every few months or so. Have learnt to live with it, and carry a crowbar permanently in the boot to use on such occasions, although this must look a little odd to any watching passers by, a bit like John Cleese in Faulty Towers when he whacked the bonnet of his 1100 with a branch in a famous sketch from the show.

Fetched mine back from the garage in Wimborne where it has been since March 20th. Lovely drive in the Summer heat of 30°+. Temperature gauge rock steady except for the traffic in Bath where it crept up to 'N'. Shame I still have the hard top on!

Don't ever be tempted to buy a new crownwheel & pinion from Rimmers. They are not made for a Triumph and don't fit.

Don't get parts from rimmers now as my last thing was a front window rubber and what a joke that was. More like a truck window rubber. It's unbelievable how much first class crap is kicking about. People like this getting away with it and the price of some parts it's unreal.

                            Took it for its MOT!

It passed with no advisories so I am pleased, but what happened to the advisories I had last year? Not done any of them since ( Front spring seat rubbers starting to swell, slight play in inner steering rack bush ) but they've disappeared. Perhaps I have a self mending Stag - now that WOULD BE Nice!
