National Day 2017 (update)

When we did our Essex National we had a big stand with second hand parts that were sold for members with a 10% fee and it was full and raised money. Nothing was left

Thought that was good valve, but Kent was a £1 an item even if you did not sell anything, which could mean you was out of pocket if you only had small or cheap items and they did not move, so kept my items in the car, may have helped some but we will never know.

An update on the event, as arrangements proceed.

There are details of how to purchase tickets subsidised by the Club on the SOC website Members Area. You pay £10.00 for a pair of tickets which is a good reduction on direct prices.(on the website now or very soon)

We are working on offering 2 alternative Runs (for the cars!) on the Saturday 24th, each about 70 miles, today we tried the Cotswolds run which I think is very good. Routes will be available nearer the event. Each run starts from our base at The Holt Hotel, Hopcrofts Holt nr Deddington.

Also is an option for Saturday entry to the Steam Fair at Bloxhan (more info later) free if you enter your Classic.

We are based at The Holt Hotel all weekend from Friday so that's a good centre to work from, also at the hotel are a couple of other Car Clubs. Opposite the Hotel is a Classic Car resto company, Hightone , who are very helpful and may be persuaded to do a viewing of their workshops.

It has been suggested that we offer autojumble. The venue probably has traders paying for stands, but subject to their approval we think a "Stag Stagnant" swap or buy may work, perhaps a small percent to club funds on sales, no Traders, we all have "Stagnant" parts in our garages or wardrobes which we don't need?

I also have an enquiry out for commemorative mugs (from an ebay supplier) if we order in bulk the price could be good, ordered in advance for one delivery at the show would save postage, what do you think?
I can update this thread whenever I have more info as we approach the event.

When we did our National a few years ago at the North Weald airfield, Paul at club accessories did a great commemorative mug with a stag and spitfire on it so might be worth having a word with him ���� I have one if you want an image of it.

Just a brief update on progress.

We have a surprising amount of interest from potential sponsors for our National Day,with perhaps sponsored plaques etc for the runs,and prizes for exhibitors. Plus
backing from one of our specialist car insurers! Mainly due to the hard work of one of our group members.

We are also seeking approval from the venue to have "Stagnant" parts swap on our stand, will advise on that soon.

Other info is on the SOC website members area , perhaps not the easiest to find but it is there.

Brief Update

Bookings going well at Holt Horel for Friday and Saturday
Entries coming in for the Sunday event at Bicester
Several members taking up the Steam Rally option
Sponsors are being very generous, Rally Plaques, Goody Bags, and maybe prizes

I have an ebay supplier can do Commemorative mug, you do have to pay for them though.
I will publish details asap with an order code, mugs can be personalised, order individually for bulk delivery to show(saves postage)
