    Unobtanium vandervell Stag mains 010"

Being as the number of Stag V8s I am likely to building is very limited, it's time to be saying goodbye to this NOS boxed set.
Pls bear in mind they are in perfect condition, and are nigh on total unobtanium.

For a first crank grind these are the biz, so I know what they are worth.

They can be posted as soon as the right offer comes up.

So you have a price in mind for them, why not just state on here what it is and have done?

Sorry I have been a bit busy, and have a lousy 3G internet connection shared off the back of a server and 2 laptops....

From what I can see the RTC1757.010 being sold by everyone and their dog is the crappy County CB 5283 tin-alloy things for about £45.00 inc UK VAT...

TBQH those county bearings are about as bad a quality as it's possible to imagine.
I would not build an engine with those in.

I have seen a spate of engine failures of all sorts using them, in fact never seen an engine with those nasty Israeli King tin-alloy bearings which has lasted more than 5000 miles before falling apart, c/w massive engine damage...

The only VP shells I have seen for a Triumph (6) engine are listed at just under 90 quid, so a fair price has to be a ONE in front of the 45.
TBQH I had no idea they had become nigh on impossible to find, and how horrible the alternatives were, until I looked today!

I have kept them at least 6-7 years hoping I might need to do another V8, but as nothing happened I'm starting to get rid of old Triumph bearing stocks cos the majority of my stuff/interest is now on the DB7.

The last time I used a set of these was 8yrs ago.
That engine is still going strong, so no reason to offer them to him.

          Golden rules:-
hard crank = hard bearings & even better with soft bearings.
          soft crank = soft bearings

Soft crank - hard bearings = goodbye crank & bearings.

I still don't understand why nobody wants these.
Don't tell me I have to put these out to auction?

              Hi .
Maybe because most cranks have been done already ....and have gone past .010
              Cheers

                  That's funny!
So people would rather fit county crap, come what may?

Mahle, who own Vandervell are remaking some bearings, but nothing for Triumph.

I can't even get 4 main proper NOS VP bearings for a much commoner TR6 engine for under 70 quid.

Do you know how much a set is for an Aston Martin?
                  £360.
It's a mass produced Jaguar engine.
They made upwards of 600 000 of the things!

I checked the price for a Cosworth YB or Ford BDA/Lotus twin cam!
For Cosworth YB they are £145, Lotus TC £58.90, Ford ST 5 cylinder £139.98.

These bearings are all common current production Vandervell VP2 like the STAG V8, but the Stag bearings are not made since the 1970s.

FYI the austin mini has been remade by Mahle- it has only 3 main bearings has a price tag of £108.00 inc vat

You didn't have to like the answer but it's probably reasonable. Most people don't do mega miles in the Stag so although probably the best, few people will need them. Supply and demand, simples
Paul - 3 projects, 1 breaker - garage built and housing 2 white Stags. One runs, one doesn't

This is why I dont come on here so much anymore...I simply tried to offer a reason why the item had not sold.
I didnt need a lecture for my trouble...

Can't see what the OP has done wrong myself.
Whether he stated a price or not. Surely if a person is interested in them, they'll just offer a price that is worth it to them to buy.
