I've had a (well documented on here) vibration from the rear at 60 and above and, having replaced literally everything in sight apart from the rear wheel bearings and drive shafts I noticed yesterday that my right hand bearing has some play in it.
if I grab the wheel at top and bottom and move it in and out there is play of around 2.00mm (max) but if I do the same from the sides there is no real movement - this makes me think that bearing may well be shot with all the wear concentrated on the points where the weight of the car rests. The LH bearing seems fine.
Would my theory sound right?
Problem is I have Datsun driveshafts with bigger u/j's than standard so I'm tempted to dispense with and replace with a set of CD developments cv jointed units and new bearings - I'm not happy with rebuilding what must be quite old hubs.
Cheers
