    Stag on E10 fuel?

Has anyone found any problems with E10 specification fuel? I'm dipping my toes in France next month and probably will have to accept E10 unleaded......

Of course, the search facility on the forum won't accept E10 as a search term!

    Stick to SP98, avoid SP95 E10.

    Bon Voyage,

There really is no need to use E10 in France, I certainly would not out of choice, but a one off fill would not be a disaster.

Our local supermarche has both 95 E-10 and Sans Plomb 98. Bigger supermarkets have 95 E-10, 95 Sans Plomb (my choice) and 98 Sans Plomb.

      No problem really!

Yes, living near Lyon France, i confirm that most stations and supermarkets have SP95 and SP98. Use SP95, no benefit using E10 as the name implies 10% of Ethanol that give less energy than petrol and is harmful to old rubbers so really stick to SP95.

To keep fuel supply lubricated, i put from time to time about 200ml of gasoil when fulling my tank. Always done so from many years now. Or some oil, not too much ! Have a nice journey in France.

I had pinking issues recently in Southern Ireland which I put down to the fuel, once I got a back in the UK a topped up it has been ok.

I'm off to Spain and France in September and I might take some additive just to be sure.

Can't see the benefit? Lubricate what, and of course petrol is a solvent so will wash away any lubrication provided by the gazoil!

That is why of course, petrol in a diesel car can course so much trouble, because it is a solvent it can destroy the diesel fuel pump on modern diesels that rely on the lubrication the diesel provides.

                    French truckers' strike threatens chaos

Britons travelling in France could be caught in a damaging strike next week.UK hauliers are also set to be hit by the threatened stoppage by French truckers' unions.
The French workers are poised to start road blockades from 9pm on Sunday, should last-ditch talks in the pay-and-conditions row fail to produce a settlement.
"They are bound to target ports and that will hit both hauliers and trippers," said Geoff Dossetter of the UK's Freight Transport Association.
He went on: "We hope this does not turn out to be as devastating as the strikes in the late 1990s."
The British freight transport industry was severely hit by lengthy action by French transport workers in both 1996 and 1997.
There were numerous roadblocks set up around France and some UK lorry drivers were stranded for days at a time.
Since then, there have been isolated short strikes but it has been mainly quiet on the dispute front over the past two years.
France is already being hit by a protest from farmers who have used tractors and vegetable crates to block food distribution centres.

Its in the Daily Mail so must be true.

Many years ago, in the 30s and 40s, people used to add in their petrol tank some oil for "hauts de cylindres". I perpetuate this tradition. For carburettors and injectors, really . But your mileage may vary...

As you say if it in the Mail it must be true and I am sure the Express will be along soon to confirm it

There are certainly no petrol shortages or chaos at the moment, and I haven't seen a farmer 'dump his manure' for a year or two.

You have forgotten to mention those nasty EU airports stopping the brits on their hols.

Silly season, headline writers on a quiet day.

No sign of issues here. Having said that I will fill up!!
