If in doubt PM me, I'll pass on the details.
(won't post here, as that's not OK).
"scaryport" is up in Cumbria the home of more mountains, not far from bonnie Scotland.
They used to speak Welsh up there a long time ago too.
I don't do axles for the UK any more, -far too much hassle.Last edited by Guest; 12 August 2017, 12:52.

Did you notice?
Did you get the less than subtle message?
YOU FIT ORIGINAL OEM PARTS, and rebuild the thing properly.
Go ask Marcus up in "scaryport"
he's a nice guy and appears to know what he's doing.
Happy now?

Fundamentally rebuilding a diff is not really so hard.
It is however a very dirty, physically demanding job, involving discipline and strict quality control.
The smell of old Hypoid never really goes away, and it's essential to have a decent press.
Idem, even more so for the Jaguar axles I do.
Apart from using the right bits, most of which are now obsolete or unobtanium, there's not much that should go wrong.
I could list the parts which you can't get for them, or how people cut corners, but I won't, because people will immediately contradict me, claiming x or y component is "perfectly acceptable" and other bollox.
I used to do 4-5 in a day, back in the good old times, but you have to select everything first, line it all up in one big production "hit" all cases cleaned, all good (TIMKEN) bearings all sitting ready to go, and take the rough with the smooth.
In reality I would get 3 of them spot on first time, taking 45 mins each, the 4th would be more faffing around for 90 mins and the last one which I knew would be a pig, would take 3-4hrs cos something was wrong with a component/height setting or preload aggros.
You try doing that many in a day, especially with zero warranty returns.
After 7pm,you're fit for nothing except sitting down with a glass of wine and a plate full of food, c/w aching wrists and cuts all over the fingersLast edited by Guest; 13 August 2017, 10:14.
