Today I have uncovered our 1976 Topaz Orange Stag in my barn.<br />
I had stripped the car,it was repainted but the shade was wrong.<br />
<br />
I built it up to a rolling shell but the colour was just wrong.<br />
In the meantime I have been diverted into the world of Porsche.<br />
<br />
The time has come - I am stripping the car down to be painted in the correct colour.<br />
I hope you all are patient with me when I ask questions as I have probably forgotten a lot .<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[I want to ask a serious question and the answer I am seeking is based on 'experience'. i haver a 50 year old Stag with 60,000 miles or 101,000 Kms. The Engine and Cooling systems are apparently well maintained from new?, delivered to me, it still had dark green coolant in the Radiator/Tanks. Everything seems fine. The radiator has been changed at some time for a deeper version with a EU Electronic Switch in the Top Left, just under the outlet from the Thermostat. I can see the cam chains have been done and when peaking into the cam cover, I can so both tensioners are out by about 1cm (running) .., all is fine &amp; silent. Tappets?, a tiny bit now and then, but nothing to note.<br />
She's up and running again after a long sleep, many years. I've now driven 1000+ kms, she is as stable as a rock..... no oil use, no water.<br />
<br />
What are the chances that after 50 years the cylinder head gaskets are going to be good for another 10 years?, top job maintenance of course, but standard stuff..!......<br />
I'm driving with a slightly heavy right foot, because she keeps screaming for a ..uck.. so 5000 turns her on big time. <br />
<br />
Even with coolant in for his whole life, I'm a bit nervous. Someone might have a good answer!.... so thanks in advance <br />
