    LHD Stag Conversion

    Hello all,
I'm planning on converting my RHD 1972 Stag to LHD during the restoration in 2018, if anyone is converting the opposite way we could do a parts swap!
I am in Germany but travel home to uk to visit family and friends quite often.
    Cheers, Mark.

    Hi Mark,

Sounds like an interesting project for sure. Keep us updated about your progress, always fascinating to read about these types of rather ambitious undertakings.

    Good luck, and Merry Christmas!!

    Cheers,
    Joakim

I've by now got so used to driving RHD cars (mine and the wife's) in a Country that drives on the right, that I prefer it to driving a LHD car. Having 2 automatic cars helps, and both cars have a "periscope" mirror to help with overtaking other vehicles. If I had to swap one of them for another car, I think I would go for a RHD one again, even if it meant buying it and driving it over from the U.K..

Plus with a Stag as my old dad always said "better the devil you know"

I have a LHD Stag, but parted out a RHD Stag.
Things to consider. The wipers will be off. The wiper motor sits on opposite sides for LH verse LH. The bulk head is slightly different. The wiring loom is handed.

If you know someone doing the swap then you are relatively OK for parts else I'd just look for a LHD stag.

Something that really bothers me. The steering column / wheel for LHD Stag is not centered between the taco and speedo. Its sits to the left.

Cheers for the info. I will keep my eyes open for a complete LHD Stag donor car. Will have to hide it from the wife though☠

The whole bulkhead is the opposite way round mine has been converted from lhd to rhd possibly by triumph. the fuse box has to be moved holes for master cylinders cut and filled and of course pedal box moved . I think a lot of work and welding best done with bare shell around bulk head so u can access both sides. good luck.
