I see a lot of members are modding their cars by bolting on a 390 cfm carb, and having problems setting it up, it will be an uphill struggle as the TV8 because it’s basically too
small, also the heads are restrictive, cast manifold is restrictive, as is the exhaust system.
l used to be a power hungry petrol head, and still am really, although my choice of engine was the rover (buick) at first then l moved on to 400 ci small block chevy engines, the last one l built was good for 800+ hp the only std part was the block, which was bored and honed using 3 inch steel plates and line bored, l could go on but l can head snoring already, the main reason for all this is about the holley, l too loved the holley and as with you guys l had trouble getting it right, then l read about a carb called a Preditor carb, its a vauum secondry, and before you all fall about laughing l should point out that l did buy a preditor and put it on my 400 chevy, there is no setting up it’s a bolt on and go carb, the difference was staggering the pickup was instantaneous the engine achually came alive, the engine ran perfectly low and high revs, there are however one downside, the pickup is so fast you get carried away your right foot grows alarmingly fast and your mpg suffers.
lecture over, but l would suggest you guys look into the Preditor carburettor, plus its better looking than the holley.
