When I was at the TSSC open day, I started looking in detail at some of the more obscure exhibits, amongst them was a workbench, used pre - war to help build Standard and Triumph cars, then during the war for fighter aircraft, including the Spitfire, then post war until I believe the early eighties, to help build Stags, amongst others. Because of a lack of paint during the war, they used up what was left over from the planes. That bench is painted duck egg blue, the underside camouflage colour of European theatre Spitfires, it is a dead ringer for the original Stag air filter colour. It's no wonder we can't find it any more !
