I guess it depends on how good your cooling system is generally. I have got a Wards Supergill Rad in mine and the rest of the cooling system is standard with no supplementary electric fan. My engine was rebuilt 9500 miles/ three years ago so the internal waterways will be clear of gunk. I am not sure how much better the new rad is over the old one, I didn't see any difference in every day driving.
I have just come back from a trip to France and I was using the Stag on the motorways at a sustained 80mph (Legal Limit) in 30 degrees C heat. This I think was close to the cooling limit as the temp needle was on the 'M' where it is usually slightly left of vertical. It cooled down quickly when I slowed up.

3 years Dave, blooming eck,I remember reading about getting your motor being done by Faversham, only seems like last summer.
Time flies or what.

My Stag had one fitted when I bought it so I cannot comment on any difference between this and the standard rad. However, in 31,000 miles I have never yet had a situation where the temperature has risen above normal, so it must work well. My car is 100% standard with viscous coupled fan.
I should have explained that I've got a leak so looking at a replacement anyway...
Berkshire radiators in caversham will fix it for you.Proberbly only about £30 unless its a recore and they will pressure test it .I had mine fixed there and they put a boss in at the same time for a temp switch.
When I got my Stag three and a half years ago I replaced the whole cooling system including the radiator but all with standard parts. Flushed and back flushed at the time and only got out clean coolant and have flushed and renewed annually since. With standard set up the car has never gone above half way on the gauge and this was only at 70-80mph on the motor way in 80ish degrees. Cant comment on the supergill, i was tempted at the time but could not justify the extra cost. If your system is well maintained you should,nt need anything else but guess it gives a little extra relief of the stag paranoia.
My Supergill radiator was introduced back in the late 70's when I got together with my radiator re conditioners to come up with a better core than the standard core to improve the cooling, the cores are still made for me and are about 20% more efficient than the standard core, there are other companies advertising the Supergill radiator but they do not use the same core.

Cheers Steve
I was thinking along those lines; why not repair it as Steve suggests?
