Was refitting my T bar recently, and found that due to one of the many people who have been fiddling with it the four 1/4 bolts had stripped the cage nut bars inside the windscreen frame, compromising the rigidity of the T Bar structure - heart sink moment (another).
Ended up tracking down and buying 5/16 UNC countersunk head machine screws and a 5/16 UNC tap. High anxiety as I ran the tap through the cage nut bars inside the windscreen frame, thinking they might split with the expansion stress. They didn't and the screws thereafter fitted beautifully, albeit I had to machine out the cup sockets on the T Bar a bit to take the larger heads.
Result - perfect fit across all four bolts and total rigidity with the T Bar - now held by slightly bigger and stronger bolts.
Another wee challenge successfully overcome on my three year journey !
