I had the enormous pleasure yesterday of coming over to Malvern from home in north London, in a Stag!
This was due to the kindness of Dave ("new to this") and his brother, two very new but already much valued friends.
Thank you once again, guys!
I had a brilliant day.
It was a real pleasure to ride in a Stag again after many years. Paul's Stag ran beautifully, sounding fabulous.
On arrival, we had a bite of breakfast, after a whirlwind tour of the concours hall.
Then we wandered around the trade stands and the autojumble. Of course, I saw so many bits I could gleefully buy for my own Stag restoration project but I am into another project at the moment, so I had to be restrained. Not quite literally...
I enjoyed my spell on the SOC stand, where I was poised ready to answer queries on the SOC forum. I chatted to some really lovely people too. The SOC certainly is a friendly club!
Obviously, it was a joy to see so many wonderful cars around the place. I actually thought that running the event alongside the TR Register made a lot of sense and my own feeling was that the SOC were welcomed. The meet seemed to be very well organised indeed. There did not appear - to me
- to be any 'them and us' feeling. As many have said in other threads, it was actually rather nice to see some alternative machinery on show as well as our beloved Stags.
But the Stags...
Wow! All the cars I looked at made me feel proud to be a Stag owner. They are a credit to you all! Seeing the glorious cars on show and riding in Paul's lovely example for so many hours, cruising effortlessly three hours each way to Malvern, made me realise why it is that we are so into our Stags. What fantastic, comfortable, sonorous and simply gorgeous machines they are!
It has motivated me to get my finger out with my own projects - the current one and then the Stag.
I'd like to add my own gratitude to the organisers of the event for a wonderful spectacle that I shall not forget. I haven't been to many SOC national meets since the mid-1990s but boy shall I try to get to more! A few local meets would also be good.
It was brilliant too to put many faces to forum handles. I must have met two dozen of you! And it was a pleasure.
Anyway, here are my pictures from Sunday. I hope you like them.
