I love it when i save money on the money pit of a car!
Just spent £7:30 on two universal gear change bike cables from halfords, and rebuilt the double choke cable. Even if it only lasts the winter i will be happy. The reason the original broke was the o/s carb choke disc wouldn't move smoothly, as the shaft that turns the choke plate was allowing the plate to rub on the housing because of wear in the bearing when the lever was pulled. It was not the angle of pull that was the problem that has been written about on the forum.
Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem.
