I've done a few upgrades over the winter and said I would post an update once I had done enough mileage to report back. Bits and pieces added:
- EBC Green Stuff front discs (via EJ ward) and discs skimmed: very noticeable improvement in stopping power, no obvious side effects like squeals or excess dust.
- New clutch master cylinder (good TRW part via LD) and slave repair kit (Paddocks) - clutch works a treat, no need to pump the pedal!
- Upgraded four core radiator (Northern Radiators) and Stagweber (Chris Spain) header tank kit. Standard fan with viscous coupling. It didn't overheat before and it still doesn't! But I see it as insurance and peace of mind. Chris's kit is nicely made and has a warning buzzer fitted.
- Vredestein Sprint classics - really good in the dry and relative cold, not tested in the wet. Eliminated former flat-spotted tyre vibration.
- New speedo cable (Tony Hart) has fixed wavering needle problem.
So, all in all I'm chuffed with these improvements so far and with the quality and service from all of the above suppliers. After a couple of dodgy (Chinese) electrical parts from Rimmers I'm wary of sourcing parts that really matter from them, as with most of the above.
