    Alternator Pulley and Fan

I have purchased a Mk1 alternator from Rimmers but in the excitement didn't realise that it didn't come with the fan or pulley.
So this evening I have been trying to remove fan and pulley off the old one for refitting onto new. Taking the nut off was easy, but after being on their for 43 years, the pulley and fan seem reluctant to come off the central shaft.
Have tried prizing them off, getting a wedge between fan and body and even swearing loudly but its still set firm.
Am I being dense and theirs an obvious way to get it off or should I just bit the bullet and get new.

    Advice appreciated.
