Put the 'winter hat' hard top on, with help from brother-in-law who was staying over, and we still have all our fingers working! To be fair the soft top works just fine but I quite like the change of look and the extra light you get from the hard top window area. Just need the gritters and salting to ease off for a few days now.....

Must say I did love the change of seasons and the change of character putting the hardtop on made to the Stag.
This was over 30 years ago when she was a daily!
Well, I checked the Oil, PAS Fluid, and Coolant, and all was O.K.except the PAS fluid was a bit low so I topped it up.
On Monday it's my Birthday, and intend taking my Stag out on a run followed by a nice meal at a local Restaurant.
When checking the car over today, I noticed that the Garage had put the front grill Stag emblem on upside down when they replaced the Radiator, so will correct that as it looks most odd.
Not long to go before we fly to the U.K. for the New Year, then on to the Caribbean & Cuba, where I intend (if I can) driving an old American Classic.
Won't be back home in Tenerife untill the 22nd of January, so will put the Stag in the underground garage space I rent for such occasions.
Just back from a trip along the M4 and back home along the A4 having aborted the run to Wokingham due to a reported accident in the snow on the motorway.
112 miles in 2½ hours!
The Stag is a great car to drive in less than wonderful conditions....

Took mine up to Favershams today for an insurance estimate to repair some self inflicted damage to the nearside rear wing. As it’s during the gritting and salt season, I think I used more screen wash today than in the whole of the last year, also discovered I need new wiper blades.
As my hose is frozen solid, decided to wait until the thaw before washing her!

I have a little more time of late so thought to post here on the forum. I spent the afternoon stripping the soft top cover. The rear cover had too much sun so leather needs replacing. Next year I aim to feed the leather more often. At least I can use the left over material to make some inserts for the rear. 20171213_204050.jpg 20171213_204000.jpg

I was thinking that Dave but it happened on such a hot day one part is now a totally different texture. It's gone really hard and course. I'm not sure leather is best suited in this area but I will feed it more often once fixed. I'm going to ensure it's glue in a u section around the back trim too other wise it's only got 10mm of glue to hold on.

If you do change the leather,i had to sand the thickness down on the edge's where i folded it over to get the trims on,i found the hardest trim to do was the one nearest the back seat,i glued the leather to the panel, then pressed the trim on

I too have a cover on my Stag, along with several others I've seen on this forum. As this is my first winter with the car I wondered if what I was doing was correct. We recently had a nice sunny day so I took the cover off, started it up and brought it out of the garage(which is dry and doesn't leak) onto the drive. I ran it up to temperature for about 10 minutes and then put it away again, waiting until the bonnet cooled before re-sheeting it up. I just wanted make sure the clutch plate wasn't sticking and check things over. The handbrake is left off and the wheels chocked with wooden wedges. Anybody got any thoughts or hints?
Richard
I just leave mine in the garage in neutral, hand brake off and sometimes with the battery conditioner connected. My cover is indoor only and is like a micro fleece. Haven't started my car for over a month, in fact the cover hasn't been off it in that time. No way is it going out in the salt!
