My (famous) Vitesse was sienna brown - much darker.
I loved that colour, - we even repainted it the same, - also because it's the ultimate anti-hero.
It had 43000 on the clock when I go it.

Nobody expects a brown car to be really fast, which was part of the charm, and almost nobody would ever think of stealing something like that.
I dunno why, but I then ended up with another really dark coloured race car!
This time it was jet black.

Black is the ultimate "bad boy" colour, which is of course why all the posers in beemers these days want them done in matt black.
That's now got so repetitive it's boring!

The one in the original post is Maple, not Russet.

I was a this auction on Saturday and this Stag was stunning though I wasn't in the room when it went through
there was a nice red one that was very clean that went for £14k I think
also a couple of sort of ok white ones but I don't know what they went for
most of the cars where very expensive with no room for a profit if you was a dealer
this Alfa went for £30k........not worth the money

The red one went for 16.5K, the brown one was a top motor but did need a little touching up on a few of the seams - I didn't stick around too long so no idea what it went for. The 1000 mile MGBGT went for 18.5k plus fees and that was a minter.

''the 1974 Triumph Stag at £34,450''
                      I'm assuming it's this one,including buyers premium.

Why do you say that Mike? Granted it seems a lot of money but in the Classic scheme of things, it really isn't.

Decent TR5s get to that level and good TR6s are routinely in the high £teens/£20k area. The Stag is undervalued and will continue to rise. Even the upcoming global stock market revaluation won't stop it. If you're in the market get the best you can afford now and hold on (not just my view by the way, I am using info gleaned from more knowledgeable staggers).
