Sunday late afternoon Cyd stuttered to a halt on a run out and after a good period of time trouble shooting I decided it must be the fuel pump. Sure enough with the judicious use of a "Birmingham Screwdriver" I managed to get her home. Yesterday, I went to see my local "Classic Friendly" garage and explained my dilemma - we were due to leave for UK on Thursday morning - and could he replace the fuel pump. A Gallic shrug followed. To cut a long and tedious story short, I rang Rimmer Bros and ordered a new unit (they only had the electronic one), this was 16.30 Monday. The part arrived at the garage here in rural France, South of Le Mans this morning (Tuesday) and I collected the car within 24 hours of ordering the part!!!!
Now, I've long advocated on this site the need to identify those who don't provide the quality of parts and service that we expect and I also believe in the opposite. So hats off to Rimmer Bros, exceptional service.
See you at the Silverstone Classic.
One very relieved fella.
