dash lights

Hello everybody,

I did that exact kit and had no issues at all. Brilliantly bright gauge illumination now. I also did the warning cluster lights and they are now substantially better with the LED's and a couple of weeks ago installed the LED brake light versions, which I am thrilled with.

No connection to company, just very pleased customer.

Hi Dieter,
I have also installed them, very pleased with the dash lights which are now visible but not over bright. Warning cluster LED'S were also fitted although I did have an issue with the oil light which fell apart as I was screwing it in, not sure if it was quality of the light or me being heavy handed so didn't ask for a replacement. The bulbs are minutely larger than the old ones so you need to either open the hole up with a drill or similar or snip them at one side. I didn't replace the ignition light though and for the first time I can see the oil light illuminated.

These guys also worth a look http://bettercarlighting.co.uk/ . They do the full sets for Mk1 & Mk2 dashes & Warning Clusters, plus all exterior lights. Gil, the owner I think, is very helpful.

I have also done all except the headlights (cost) and to use a word brilliant. If doing hie indicators you will need an electronic LED capable flasher unit. Well worth doing.

I fitted these dash lights, great and half the price of Better Lights plus the clock light is the correct one.

I've just replaced the dial lamps with Leds (apart from the oil pressure gauge - wouldn't fit) and thought that I could smell hot plastic when the lights were on. Could the rheostat be affected? - do I need to bypass the rheostat? - I'm not bothered about dimming them.

I have fitted the Better Car Lighting (BCL), rear fog light conversion and the warning light set and am very happy with them. jojim65 mentioned that the LEDs are very slightly bigger than the standard warning light bulbs, the BCL kit includes the correct diameter drill bit.

Very pleased with classiccarleds, they are the best value for money, I've done the dash except the cluster, I've got the leds but am a bit concerned about fitting them. I've also done all the side lights and the reversing lights, brake lights and rear fog light as per the Grampian boys advice and wiring diagram which is excellent. I'm much happier and safer with the brighter rear lights. I've not done the indicators as they seem quite bright as they are.

If you have the BetterCarLighting set for the dash, does the dimmer still work? The standard lights are, for me, just about bright enough with the dimmer on full, so if the LEDs are a lot brighter I would want the dimmer to work.

I got some off eBay for my mk1 dash and they are no better than the old ones
has anyone had success with led lamps and mk1 dashes ?

I got mine from classiccarleds. They are green to suit the Mk2 gauges, but the dimmer does not work. Happy with the brightness level of them though.

Gill at BCL can supply the correct dimmer for led's if required.

What is involved in the rear fog light conversion ? and are they bright
