As the original Thread I started was getting a bit lengthy, I thought I would start a new one as a continuation.
My Stag is still off the road and on their request, I went round to the Garage who have it this morning to discuss progress.
If you remember I took it in there to fit a new Starter Motor, and sort out the oil leaks I was getting since fitting my Weber Carburretor.
At first they thought one oil leak was coming from the recently fitted oil cooler, but after having it pressure tested, that wasn't the case.
Oil was dropping onto the cooler from a bolt on the front of the engine and this has now been fixed, plus a missing nut on a sump bolt has also been replaced.
On test running the engine again at first it ran perfectly without any leaks, but then oil started appearing in the "Vee" once again.
The rocker cover gaskets are both dry, so that is not the source, so now they are going to remove the Inlet Manifold as it looks like it could well be the water pump gasket/seal. The Garage wanted my opinion and approval to do this before going ahead.
After having most of their staff off on holidays, they are now going to press on with the work on the Stag, and the Boss said he would ring me as soon as the Inlet Manifold is off to let me know what he finds and what parts are needed.
I've got just a few more weeks before I celebrate having owned the Stag for 25 years, so I hope to have it back and running by then!?
