Having been trying for ages to cure heavy clonks when engaging D or R , worse when the car was was hot, but I think I might have finally cracked it. One forum member kindly provided this link a while ago, https://www.scribd.com/document/2530...mission-Manual. This pdf is a mine of information including a fault finding and actions section. This problem is included and suggests you either correct tick over if too high or adjust the kick down cable. Tick over speed is easy to eliminate so I took the advice and adjusted the cable. Turning the adjusting hex in to increase the amount of threaded outer cable between mounting block and carb link reduces line pressure it seems. I measured the thread before adjustment so I could come back to the start if needed but three turns was enough to transform the performance. Now I can feel a small thump on engaging D and R but nothing like what is was before. Still have to check it out again on a longer run from cold but think I will settle for this. The car changes up and down ok and I still have kick down. I was surprised how much the kick down cable controls which explains why just disconnecting it at the carb didn't help. I know that the pure way to do this is to use a pressure gauge connected to the box but trial and error will do for me. Hopefully the link to this pdf download will help other members and thanks again to whoever posted it earlier. John
