Heís looking for the blanking plate that was fitted to cars that didnít have radios. Ribbed black plastic oblong.

Tony White had another one about 18 months ago when I bought mine. Probably have to create your own clipping mechanism, mine only had one clip and was the best of the pair he said.

Mine has a blanking plate that opens by magic when you touch the "hidden" button to reveal the radio. Obviously not a blanking plate at all but I had the car for a week before realising that it actually had a radio !! Useful to disguise the fact that there is a radio when parked in some locations. When left open when switching off it opens and closes with the ignition. Are these common on Stags? I presume it was fitted by a previous owner at some time. John

I don't know about common on Stags but I used to have one like that in a Saab 9000 Aero, just an aftermarket fit.

I quite like the one that Dad put in the Stag. He always would take the non descript radio from whichever company car he had, and along with the floor mats would take them to the next car.

Did my head in! However, my inherited Stag has a 1973 radio, with chrome and so is very period for the car.

I have found these factory plates very hard to get! I have one on my Stag and one on my 2500S but have been looking for years to buy a spare just in case. The appeal with this is that it matches and has a similar profile chromed border/rim to the below heater surround which is sadly lacking in many of the after market options I have seen, a bit too 'after market' for me..
Another positive is that it can be trimmed to fit around a modern head unit which gives it a really nice framed look with the head unit in place.
I am surprised they have yet to be remanufactured as some would want them just to blank that space as well just as the car came out of the factory.
