LD Part list Unipart GFE375. These are available, but a quick google will discover a list of cross-references to other makes.

Personally, I have used this Bosch P3259 for many years and a recent strip down of my engine showed no detectable wear on bearings after over 60,000 miles since its last rebuild.

+1 After viewing some filter reviews, Mann filters seem to do well for quality.

I too use the Mann W719/27, £7.42.from Euro Car Parts.

On a general note when comparing spin-on with conventional filters, a big advantage of the spin-on type is a non-return valve which means oil does not drain back into the sump after switch -off and oil is pumped round the engine right from start-up. The conventional setup does not have a non-return valve (mine did not anyway) so it did take a couple of seconds for oil pressure to build.

TBH, I think the orientation of both the OE and spin on filter systems means that oil won't really "drain back" as gravity would keep it mainly in place.

Agree with you on that Wilf. With the filter mounted almost vertically, oil cannot drain out, so full oil pressure as soon as the engine turns. Never really understood all that rhetoric about the n/r valve some years back.

I think the problem is not the filter emptying out but oil draining back down the pick-up tube into the sump meaning the pump has air in it at start up. If there is no backwards flow (with a NRV), the whole feed to the pump and the pump itself will have oil in it at all times. So full pumping at start up. I think that is the theory!
