They're not the strongest diff in the world, but not the weakest either. Good diffs exist and so do some really bad ones - and you won't know until it's bolted in! Happily I have proof of a good one, and I drive on it.
The Weslake diff is reputedly the mutts nuts, but it's a serious price tag too - however if your budget will stretch.......
Well i didnt blow it up as i did two in one week. it looks its age but without stripping it and examing each tooth on the pinion for stress cracks you pay your money and take your chance..... Best let Harve have first refusal though as he posted the thread.
