Hi Dougie
I have an Triumph Stag V8 engine which I took out of a 1977 mk2 with about 90K miles on it in running condition for the seven years I ran the car without problems.
It has been out of the car for 5 years but turned over by hand reqularly

Hi Dougie, I have a decent stag engine although I believe it does need new head gaskets to be fitted as there is a slight white substance showing on the underside of the oil filler cap. The car does not overheat though as I had it running yesterday for over an hour, the temperature went up initially to between half way and the red then once the thermostat had opened and the top hose went hot, it settled down to half way and stayed there. It has good oil pressure but I have also noticed that the top hose has a lot of pressure in it.
It will be available for viewing / hearing over the next two weeks when it will be removed. Attached to it is a fully functional BW35 auto box and starter motor. All ancillaries will be staying (carbs etc.) All I need from it is the alternator and the distributor cap and leads, power steering pump. All sensible offers will be considered. Reason for sale is that I am converting over to a rover as I was given a very good low mileage engine.

there is a guy who busts Stags near Blackness who has about 7 but thinks parts are gold plated. he has a stag on ebay right now wants £1500 and it is a dog. I got my engine from Hocky in Stirling. cracking guy easy to deal with, his numbers on this forum somewhere
