Since fitting a second hand seat belt binnacle I have had the seat belt warning light flickering on and off whilst driving! This gets really annoying after a while so I investigated the cause today.
The binnacle was purchase from a breakers and was 'weathered' internally, after looking how the binnacle might work I could see a strip sensor internally that senses when the belt is plugged in.
With the wife's nail file (she doesn't know yet:shock
I carefully cleaned this connection and the surrounding area.
I have taken a photo of the other binnacle which came at the same time (still rusty) and circled the strip connector. The binnacle now works perfectly with no light flickering what so ever!
Thought this might be of use if you get the fault in the future.
