heater advice

Hi

Got my Stag in July and tried heater for first time last month but unfortunately :-

1. only works on first / low position.

Do I have to remove heater to replace motor. How difficult.

2. Not de-misting on passenger side. I guess passenger side clogged up so clean

out should sort it.

Theblower is fed through a resistor to provide the lower speed. This is by-passed for full speed, so your problem is either a wire off or the switch. This resistor is usually mounted on the blower.

Worth checking that the flexible hose is actually connected at both ends. You can access the demister end by removing the glovebox liner.

I don't think you can remove the motor with the heater in situ. Unfortunately the heater unit was probably the first part fitted to the car then the dash and console were built around itand it is a pain to remove. Best to refer to the ROM but you have to just about remove the whole dash.

Much easier to remove the whole dash, but it's not a big deal. Couple of hours max. ROM describes it well. Once it's off you can replace all the foams at the same time, I took mine out when I tried to free up a sticking heater valve and ended up pulling the whole assemble of the heater matrix.
