Weh hey, passed again! I've taken it to the same 'old car friendly' local garage two years running now and the advisory items are competely different (only 400 miles between two MOT's). Last year advisory items were:

Offside front suspension component mounting corroded

Nearside rear suspension (door sill)component corroded

Oil leak

Headlight aim on bottom line

I only changed the headlight bowl,and this year it's changed to:

Nearside track rod end ball joint

Offside track rod end ball joint

Body has slight corrosion

Both seats rock

At least it got through

I got an advisory that my rear exhaust mounting rubbers were starting to perish, took them off and put new one's on but to be honest you could have hung a car off of them, ( old one's )

Just had mine MOT'd.

Advisories were:-

Front Brake pads thin

Gearbox output shaft leaking, but oil level OK.

Front shock dust covers split

As I don't do huge milages, no worry! Can wait til next year

Only things this year - replaced rear wheel cylinders, replaced ignition switch to cure intermittent starting. (Rimmers sent wrong one twice so have rewired my imobiliser to suit)

Changed oil, filter and coolant, raked out the block through the drains. Replaced my tyres at last for 205's giving a much more comfy ride.

Thats it!

Reading peoples troubles on here constantly makes me glad I have a good 'un! I probably paid a little over the odds originally, but what price reliability? Tester commented on low emmisions, even though it doesnt have to be tested, and lack of any corrosion anywhere.

I have just been onto the website to check on the date of expiery of my MOT as I am not at home, and I can find out online as long as i have the number from my old MOT DUH



Why cant I put my reg no in and get it from that ? or am I missing something

P.S. for the first time for about 20 years the handbrake actually works so I am looking forward to the MOT

Just called my garage and mine's just passed without any advisories! I had a very stressful morning waiting for that call I can tell you.

Not bad considering how many bits it was in over the weekend (including no brake system!)

but yes - puzzled about the advisory system - I had one last year for 'leaking exhaust' but this year none and I haven't touched it since last year. Weird... :?

Good news Toby

Of course the MOT test is subjective and advisories will always vary I guess as a result. All down to one persons individual opinion and even what sort of mood the tester is in:shock::shock::shock:.

Enjoy the next 12 months........
