    Radio for the Stag

Having been given one of those I-Pod thingys for christmas, and as I have now placed my extensive record collection on it ( using a massive 14.4% of its capacity! ), I would like to enjoy its "vibes" whilst cruising in my stag. Can anyone reccommend a radio with an I-Pod fitment and green lights that I can fit to the Stag?. I do not need an amp or "boom box"???? please give an old git a helping hand

I believe kenwood or jvc are green and they do one with an ipod connection.

    Try Halfords or motorword ect.

You could fill your boot with amps and a subwoofer to vibrate your fillings out yer teeth

You can also buy fm transmitters that attach to your ipod. You just tune them in to an unused frequency on your radio.

I've just fitted a Kenwood CD/MP3 player that has a aux input for an ipod. It cost AUD $128.00 which is about GBP 3.50 at the current rate of exchange! I fitted4" 2 wayspeakers under each end of the dash using plywood mounts.

The rear speakers are also 4" 2 way hidden under the front seats inplywood boxes attached to the height adjustment mechanism, photo attached.I "borrowed" the idea from another thread in this forum. It sounds really good especially the under seat ones!

        regards,

        Raoul

        P.S. What does SWMBO mean?

These are a good idea, and are now legal. Bought a combined charger/transmitter off eBay for about a tenner. Works well.

Thanks for your input, I have looked at the kenwood item, and bought a transmitter which I have to say I am not too impressed with, might bethat the existing radio is so old that its a lost cause so if I am to get a new one it might as well have a hard wire connection.

Just to buy it fit it and learn how to use it now

                  Hi Chis,

I had a similar dilemma; I took the cheaper option first, and bought an FM transmitter. It's acceptable driving locally, but a real pain on a long run (I took my Stagdown to Italy and developed a pathological hate of itby the time I got back because of all the retuning required). I've just bought a Becker Grand Prix, which isn't cheap, but also has a Bluetooth 'phone gismo, which is a bonus. Sounds really good too.

                  Regards,

                  Dave

                    Hi Dave

Just had a look on the web site for Becker Grandprix and they look really good, which they should for £299!

Can you let me know what the sound quality and how easy it is to use whilst driving etc as I would like to have handsfree for the Stag but without the ugly fitted handsfree/charger fitted to my company Mondeo.

                      Hi Stu,

Sound quality is excellent;Becker are renowned for their upmarket tuners. It also has a CD slot behind the front panel, but I haven't used it yet! The 'phone works very well, but it doesn't store numbers - you'll need to use your 'phone address book, or you can dial directly on the front panel (not recommended unless you are stationary). You can use last number redial, though. The ipod works very well through it, and it displays artist & track details on the panel, and is very easy to navigate though the stored music. It is also one of the quickest mp3 playersto switch tracks. The only draw back is that you have to buy the ipod cable separately from the player. Overall, I'm very pleased with it.

                      Dave
