    Seat Belts

    Hi all,

I need to replace my seat belts in my Mk2, but I do not want to change the centre binnacle for the front ones. Does anyone know if you can get new ones that fit the existing binnacle or do you have to have the old ones refurbed.
    Many thanks for any help.

I used this company. It's run by a lovely lady who took it over from her father.

She made up a new set of belts for me, with new inertia-reels, belt webbing, mounting bracketsand tongues to fit my existing binnacle. It cost me £75 all in!

I bought a pair for my Mk1 from T D Fitchett in Telford, they come complete with a new centre binnacle but not sure if it's the same for a Mk2. They were about £100 for the pair delivered.

Here's a photo of one of them with the binnacle.

All seems very interesting. Does she sew the approval label on them (BSI Kite or E(II) marking or whatever)? MoT over here often check this label especially on a restored classic car.

I don't know. It would be worth contacting her directly to confirm this.

Will do, as it would be nice to retain the original binnacle method.

I misunderstood your postas I thought you actually had received a set from her and would know if they had the BSI approved label, so to speak.

I thought, in any case, that even in UK they would have to have this kite mark.

Sorry, yes good point. I don't recall a label on mine, however I wasn't really looking.

Still worthwhile confirming directly with her.
