    Selling my Stag

Hi guys, I need some view please. I've come to the reluctant conclusion that I need to sell my 1972 Mk1 which has the RV8 engine/LT77 gearbox conversion. Work and home life (with 4 children!) commitments leave me no time for my car, though I'll definitely be coming back to Stag ownership later.

I've done a fair amount to the car over the past 3 years including fitting a new hood and re-furbished frame, rebuilt the front seats, Lumenition, replaced power steering pump/hoses and front struts. I also had a cheap re-spray which now needs sorting and have sourced:

    - Replacement bonnet - with cut down SU pots eliminating the bonnet bulge
    - 2 new front wings
    - Replacement boot lid
    - 2 replacement door
    - Complete interior - including seats which need a rebuild
    - 2 sets of wheels
    - Steering column
    - Re-veneered wood set and modified gear lever
    - Had the rev counter refurbished
    - Plus a load of other spares - dials, clock, door handles etc

The car failed the MOT on some welding which I'm getting fixed so it'll have a full MOT and is tax exempt. So, the question is do I sell it as job lot for or split the parts from the car. I'd appreciate your views on this and what you think it might be worth as I have little idea, thanks. Russ

For Maximum money for you, i'd sell the car separate from the parts

      I'd say separately too!

I'd also suggest popping along to our next local meeting on 6th September (if you haven't got rid by then), as a couple of local members could well be interested in either the car or the bits.

      Best of luck,

      Wendy

        Hi Russ

If it is the case of time and you don't need the money from the sale then store the car if you have space until you have time.

I regret selling my first Stag then spending and losing money on the purchase of 2 further Stags. If I had stuck with the first one and had the patience to wait until I had the money to do the work (not necessary for MOT) I would have been a lot better of now than I am

If you can keep it do so otherwise split it and max out your money income form the sales.

          Andy/Wendy/Stuart,
Thanks very much for your views. I'll take your advice and split - plus pop along in September. Sadly, storage isn't an option, or at least not until this time next year and you know what happens when Stags aren't stored properly - what comes out ins't what went in!
