Clutch slave cylinder push rod travel

    Hi All

Could one of you guys with a MOD do me a BIG favour and measure the distance that the push rodtravels on the slave cylinder when the clutch pedal is pressed?

    Thanks

    Hi Bruce,

I haven't measured it but I believe it should be 16mm.

      Hi Pete

That is less than I expected. Where did you get that figure from?

      Thanks

Hi Bruce, I was having clutch hydraulic problems recently, I had mounted the slave cylinder the wrong side of the bell housing flange.

          Hi Dave

Thanks, yes I saw that thread and identified that I too had fitted it the wrong side. I corrected it before I tried the start up yesterday.

          Regards

          Bruce

That's a good question. I've made a note that it should be 5/8" - 16mm but have never had to put it to the test.

Possible I have picked it up from triumphstag.net you could try a search there.

FYI - Extract from the thread entitled 'Clutch issues - nearly there!' on triumphstag.net, Info from tonypy1

I checked the slave pushrod movement which was in the region of 10 - 12
mm as opposed to the required 16mm, with no improvements from bleeding.

I'm not saying that this is 'officila' but it is out there

When I changed my stag from auto to manual the clutch pedal sat slightly too low compared to the brake pedal and the clutch would not clear so I removed the master cylinder push rod, cut the fork off and welded it back together slightly longer. The clutch pedal now sits about an inch higher than the brake and the clutch works fine.

I just had to be careful not to overdo it and bottom out the master cylinder
