- I have had electrical problems and an intermittent NS headlamp for a while and we just couldn't get it to work during the test (it worked afterwards of course!)
- Windscreen washer pump is tired and would not pull water up to self-prime
- one of the clips holding the brake lines to the bulkhead has failed, probably having got knocked when the new box was fitted, or when we had problems with the starter motor.
A couple of advisories as well, the seat belts do not retract particularly enthusiastically and another intermittent electrical issue which did eventually resolve itself.
Not too bad I suppose for a 38 year old car
I have left the car with the garage and given them the replacement fuse box I managed to pick up at the national, which will sort out all electrical gremlins (I hope :? ) They can skin their knuckles fitting the brake pipe clip and sort out all the electric string under the dashboard.
put a non return valve on the washers then they dont have to prime.
i must admit your tester seem a bit keen, my seat belts dont retract well either but he never picked up on it.

Where do you take yours?
Al.
Thanks Al....... I don't go anywhere special - i use the MOTest place on the Old Dean, i'v used it for years, it is a while-you-wait, no appointments, place which i prefer.

: Yep, that is the place, it does have a certain 'reputation' :
Passed today. going out to play for the afternoon now. got to get 500 miles on it before i go on holiday in September.
Congrats, what a lovely feeling ! If a washer pump won't self prime, it won't pull water past a non-return valve, tell 'im not to be mean and buy a new pump! Martin.
