    Top Hose advice

    She's alive again. a bit nervous when it finally came to turning the key

    No Exhaust leaks (many thanks Kevin for the manifold all worked ok)and so far no oil leaks (although time will tell on that one) hopefully no more degreaser on the drive!

    Quick question though, fitted all new hoses and flushed the rad ( will be doing more flushing tomorrow now I can move the car out of the garage). However when I fitted the top hose if seems to sit on top of the corner of thecam cover now, where the old ones bend allowed it to clear it easily. I know as I could take the covers off with the old one on place but not with this new one. LD supplied all the hoses which other than this one have been a good if not better fit than the previous ones.

    I am tempted to cut thenew one slightly shorter at the thermostat end. But before I get the stanley knife out I thought I would ask if others found this. Iguess it will mean I pull it back slightly the radiator end.

    Hopefully this will show what I mean, old hose placed on top.

          nice engine bay one question, why is the triumph writing upside down on one of your cam covers?

            As I understand it a few of the early cars had these upside down motifs, as both cam covers were made from the same mould in the early days.

              I have no idea TBH

              Thought it was strange myself! Hadn't really noticed it until I came to refit them and thought I was going barking Cars a 75 but I guess it may have had them changed! Might be to do with them leaking eh? :shock:The RH one at the back is a right b*gger :X

                down on some cam covers:


                THE FOLLOWING explanation is what I was told
                during my investigations about development of the
                Stag.




                The first cam covers made would be made with low cost tooling so they could be made cheaply. Once they
                were approved for production, then the more
                expensive tooling would be used as they would be of
                a high quality so as to press to production standards.
                L/hand and R/hand tooling was made in prototype
                and production tools but, as production was not as
                high as anticipated, when either tools was at the end
                of its life, it was decided to use only one in the press
                at the time. The cam covers were interchangeable as
                the oil filler and exterior bits were incorporated after
                pressing the blanks. This also cut production costs as
                only one press was required to make the covers. They
                still made the tooling in L/H and R/H so the nearest
                to hand was used at the time, therefore, some covers
                have Triumph stamped upside down.

                The original covers were light blue with white plastic
                HT lead clips.
