    Commission label / aerial questions

I have a couple of quick questions that haven't been answered from a couple of Stag books I've read on my search for a car. Answers gratefully received. Thx

    1) I have seen some cars with aerials in different places. Is the correct (and only) original factory position top of n/s/r wing? or did this differ with different age models?

    2) On the n/s of the front section in the engine bay there are three ID tags. What should each contain and how were the two thin strips finished. I have seen all combinations of painted, metal and missing?

I'm sure there will be many more Q to follow, but I couldn't find a search answer on these

    Hi Nigel,

I don't think there was a 'Factory' position for the Ariel. I think they were dealer fitted and seem to be placed almost anywhere. Mine is on the O/S Rear. Most are N/S rear simply because that is where there is the most room to fit one - especially if you go for an electric one.

There are only two ID Tags on the front of the engine bay. One is a body Number, and the other is a sales No or something, like that. There is a proper explanation on this Forum Somewhere - Posted by Dave Jell I think. The number that you should be looking for is the commission No. That should be on a plate on the N/S B-Post.

    Rgds

    Dave

Nigel be careful when getting your car MOT. Had mine done in june and he used the number under the bonnet not the one on the plaque on the passenger door post.

I was that chuffed to get the MOT cert I failed to check that the chassis number was correct. Was,nt until the DVLA got in touch that I had to go through a palava to get a new MOT cert issued with the correct VIN
