    Steering Rack Leaking

Well I put the car on the ramps to check the hissing noise and got distracted by some leaks around the front.

The one that really annoyed me was the Steering Rack. There was a lot of fluid on the rods coming out of each gaiter. This annoyed me as I only had the steering rack changed about 5 years ago due to it leaking.

Is there anything I should check in this area before I decide to replace it again?

The garage did that the last time. How easy a job is that to do your self?

I've just changed the gaitors on mine and the offside one appeared to have fluid in as opposed to grease, so I'll be heading to halfords for a tin of Wynnslater.

It worked for me in another motor.

I think owning a Stag is a bit like the painting the Forth Bridge....fix one oil leak work around the rest then start again:shock:

Be intersted to see if Wynnsstope the leak ;otherwise the rack seals will need replacing. Probably shoddy aftermarket seals mutter mutter...
