    petrol pump

Today we broke down me the wife and the dog all going to the sea for the day when the petrol pump stopped working ,I eventually got us going again but as this is the second pump in as many years to let us down I was thinking of fitting one of the solid state pumps that L D sell . Has any one fitted one and if so was it a success

Just phoned paddocks to ask there opinion on the electronic petrol pump and they said they will not sell them because the after sales service is c**p I take it from the lack of replies that no one on here has one fitted .

Just a thought but does the inertiar switch just switch off the pump or does it switch of the ignition

          Hi John,

As fitted the inertia switch only does the fuel pump. However I, and many others, have the Lumenition connected to the output side so that the engine will cut out immediately in the event of a crash, rather than keep running until the carbs are empty after the fuel pump has cut out.

            Thank you for the replies

I have electronic ignition but its is the Aldon electronic ignition and wired from dissy strait to coil , so from what you have said if my inetia switch was faulty it would give the same symptom's as a faulty petrol pump .So I need to investigate the switch before spending on a new pump .

Thanks again .....you may have saved me money

To test your inertia swicth simply join the two wires together and see if the pump runs.

I have one of the Rimmers supplied electronic pumps on my car. It ran fine for over a year on the red stag before that one came off the road. The pump is now on the resto and working fine.

                  Success I think !

I striped the inertia switch today and the ball bearing was very rusty and pitted as was the end of the magnet ,cleaned it all up and rubber down wit a bit of 120 till every thing was shining then went for a very long test drive and all seems to be well :P
