    Boot boards

Boot boards as purchased from Paddocks fitted at last!
    But is all as expected?
What about the 1" gap down the middle? Also, its not clear from the photo, but with the fixings in place on the lighting panel, the opposite side just clears the two holding down brackets attached to the boot rear wall. Which is a shame after all the trouble and time that went in re-placing a missing bracket. And what about the cut out to clear the fuel tank's air vent?

I've shown you mine, please show me yours!

    Hi John,

Never seen one like that RH one before. Why is it cut out like that? Also there shouldn't be a 1" gap down the centre.

These are the ones shown in a photo on Paddocks website. Have you been sent the right ones??

        Yep! Those are the babies.
Or at least that's what they looked like before several coats of varnish, that MDF soaks up moisture like blotting paper.
The slot was my addition, now, my car has had a new boot floor and like most new floors the one I had wasn't exactly right, I think the original had a kink downwards sort of half way right across its' width, mine didn't and still hasn't, I didn't like the get-around of creating your own crease by some half baked method. I think therefore that the tank sits a little higher than it should which is why the vent pipe would foul the r/h board without the cut out. It's only a slight interference, the pipe just sits flush with the top surface so with the carpet in place there won't be and bulges showing.
The front to back issue can also be explained away, I guess. I know my rear light panel, inner and outer, isn't a sandwich of original pressings, but made up of some beautiful repair panels that look to good to be d.i.y. done long before my ownership. But lets except that there's a chance that the depth of boot might be incorrect.
What I can't explain is the gap between the boards, to my knowledge the rear of the car isn't wider than it should be, especially by that much, too many other interfaces would have to be 'out' to allow that difference and there aren't any.
I guess I'm just going to have to live with them as they are, one things for sure it's to late to do anything about it now.

Re; these boot boards, a few years ago there used to be the option of buying fiberglass boards, these had an edge that stayed in place while the centre section lifted out for access to the spare wheel, are these still available?

20 years ago is possible, but they must have been made for a long time because i was still 14 years away from having a stag 20 years ago

                More like 25 years ago.

Here's the ad from the 80's. It's a long, long time since I've seen these for sale.

I'd be more than happy to pay £21.27 plus p&p for a set

Saw a pair of the Glassfibre boards on ebay recently - think they went for about £80.

Googled Barzal Mouldings and they show up in Norfolk

Anyone around there on the forum - might be worth checking out if they still have the tooling?

You wouldn't push the boat out and pay the extra £6.33 for the tool tray then?
