    Pinking!

My Stag has taken a liking to pinking, even on 99 octane fuel, but only when worked very hard admittedly. I have had the strobe light on it this evening and it is at 14 deg BTDC. The problem is that I cannot rotate the distributor body at all in the retard direction. Am I right in thinking that it is just a matter of removing it and turning the distributorrotor back one tooth? I would appreciate a less musical engine!

    Thanks,

    Brian

Yep - if you are at the limit of distributer adjustment you'll have to pull it, move a tooth in the appropriate direction and pop it back in.

Just a suggestion, but don't remove it, carefully lift it while turning the rotor arm in the appropriate direction, you should feel it move round one tooth. Martin.

Many thanks Martin, that method worked a treat! I could swear the engine runs smoother now...
