Loose wire in the engine bay?

Not sure what this is for but its loose in the engine anyway.

Long shot I know to see if anyone knows what its for but it comes from the firewall and is the green wire in the pic

That was for the old electric temp sensor which is no longer used due to the capilery gauge that is fitted
