Help, I can't separate the master cylinder from the servo, the nuts came off easily, but the master seems to be heavily spring loaded and won't come free. Any thoughts please gents ? Martin.

Have you thought about using a flat blade screw driver between the body of the servo and master and give it a gentle tap all the way round it is only surface rust holding it on now.

Thanks for that. When I pull on the master, it comes out of the servo about 4" but is pulled back by the spring that should come out with it. I bought this master from you know who, before I knew any better and I have a horrible feeling that the collar that sits at the front of the external spring is trapped in the servo. Martin.

Just been out to the garage where I have a spare servo and the only way I can see forward is to put the servo in a vice and turn the front cover off, unless you can wrigle the master off when you have removed itfrom the car, sorry I can't help you more
never come across this before!

Don't apologise Steve, grateful for any and all. I used more force than I was happy with and the bugger came off. The cup washer that holds the spring in place is poorly shaped and had simply jammed in the servo. You know who strikes again with shoddy stuff !
To my great delight, after rebuilding, I now can't get it back ONTO the servo, it gets to within about 3/8ths of an inch and will move no closer. Being old and daft I've probably done something wrong, but I'm damned if I can work out what. Martin.

That's a good point Dieter, I have a set of crowsfoot spanners that would have done it, but I was keen to get the servo off to look for fluid leaks etc. and to re-seal it to the firewall.Hello,
I used a halfmoon shaped spanner to do mine. There are also spanners where the opening is at the side and not at the front.
Kind regards, Dieter.
Martin.
