    Thanks to the few!

I used to enjoy reading the forum at lunchtime from work.

Well - thank you to the few that have decided to spoil this activity.

You know who you are ... the 'children' who have decided to use an offensive avatar in response to the recent clean-up attempt in relation to avatars. Well done!

If you want porn - go somewhere else.

I too feel that the forum has been spoiled somewhat of late, however what a childish response.

The avatar in question was no more offensive than the 'Carry On' films were in the 60's.

The overwhelming response in favour of allowing that avatar proves that 'the few' are in factthose who found it offensiveand it is that overly 'PC' attitude that has spoiled things.

It was less 'pornographic' than most daily newspapers and whilst I am certainly no fan of most of them,I thought the Mary Whitehouse era had passed.

And, as for using 'an offensive avatar in response to the recent clean-up attempt', it had already been in use for several months with, hitherto,no adverse comment.

I must say since I bought my Stag in Dec, I've logged on 2 or 3 times a day since then. However if the posters were all as prudish as you appear to be with your over the top statement, I wouldn't bother to log on at all.

        Prudish?

        Childish?

I work in an open office, and no longer feel that I can browse the forum without feeling that I will offend someone that decides to walk past my desk.

        Mob rule?

As a fairly new member here, and a new Stag owner,I can only say what a great forum this is and what a great bunch of people I have traded posts with to date. Always willing to help and throw some ideas at a problem! Without doubt the most useful forum I have been a member of.

I often read this with my wife sat next to me who occassionally peers over and giggles at some of the avatars and reads the posts, she has yet to be offended by anything and neither have I. But then she does put up with me I guess :P

Please can we draw a line under this as it is taking up valuable space on a great forum

Funnily enough I'm in an open office as I type this just now and have no such worries of offending anyone. So no one brings any newspapers into your office or the likes in case someone is offended by some pictures? There are billboards with more offensive pictures than the avators seen recently.

To repeat: "The avatar in question was no more offensive than the 'Carry On' films were in the 60's." and "It was less 'pornographic' than most daily newspapers"

That being the case, I can't help thinkthat if you feel that that avatar would offend someone walking past your desk then that is a rather sadreflection upon you or your work colleagues.

Indeed, compared to the avatar in question, a young Barbara Windsor displayed considerably more some 40 years ago in 'Carry on Camping' :?

Indeed, just look at what of our highly regarded female members had to say on the subject of that avatar:

"As one of the few female voices on this forum, I voted yes because like the rest of you, I'm an adult and see this for what it is - a bit of fun and in no way offensive!

Clearly the complainant has a problem with zips and perhaps prefers buttons..."

There's that picture of Barbra Windsor in the Daily Express today, withJim Dale as the doctor, stethoscope in hand.

It was funny in the sixties, an still is. My wife also regularly looks over my shoulder at some of the posts, car photo's and jokes, and has never felt the need to comment on the Avatars.

Personally I have seen nothing on this forum that even comes close to what you see in a national newspaper or on TV after the watershed, so what is the problem! I'm all for maintaining common decency and dignity but we haven't crossed that threshold, have we!

I don't think The Few can be blamed for this can they?

In fact we should all be very grateful to them.....even if they were in Spitfires and not Stags........

In fairness to Paul he did say he looked at the forum in his lunch break.

Don't agree with his comments otherwise but all this stuff is becoming very boring and I think it's abot time we moved back on all things Stag and the usual banter that goes with it rather than all this PC stuff.
