    The Topaz Years?

Can anyone tell me what years the topaz colour was valid for. I have seen this car ad on fleabay (200515657784) which says May 74 reg, but IU thought Topaz was May '75 on.

    Any pointers gratefully received.

    According toAndy Simons'ssite here:

    http://www.stagbytriumph.co.uk/

your date of May 1975is correct. I've no other way of corroborating or disputing that, sorry.

If Topaz with black trim were the orginal colours and the car has its original commission plate on the B post then that will show the colour and trim combination as two numbers, namely 84 and 11. If it shows any other combination, and is original, then you can work out what the original colour was.

      Hi Chaps

Just to add a tad of confusion mines a march 1975 and Topaz with black. colour checks out on theplates and the V5. I thought of raising that as a query before as I had checked on the stagbytriumph site and thought that was odd?

And I have had mine to bits now so I know that was the original colour, despite someone giving it a Metallic blue paint job at some stage

I had a metallic Blue Stag back in late 80's CWK ###K number plate. Bought it in Sutton surrey and sold it near Wilmslow. I suspect that it went to stag heaven shortly after complete with its isapon outriggers and crappy paintjob - neither of which were down to me.

Not sure I would like ford metallic blue any more though :?

I suppose it might have been an 80's thing, but certainly not my cup of tea either! I only found it when taking the old girl apart I found some over spray inside certain panels. Must have looked a right sight when you opened the bonnet and it had a topaz engine bay! Arrrh

Oh well after thirty five years I guess we are bound to find out the oddbad call here and there
