master cylinder

Just a reminder to all out there, all is not how it seems. My clutch master cylinder failed, so Igot a new set of seals from James Paddock, unfortunatly itdidn't fit. I thus found out that the cylinder was from a triumph 2500.

The chappie at Paddocks explained that the difference is: if the output pipe is horizontal out of the endthen its a stag, if itsout of the top verticaly then like its a 2500.apparently its because many years ago the stag variant had stopped being made so the only option was to go swap to a 2500.

Its good to know there area people out there who still have the knowledge to know what the hell is the problem with your car. Here's to the people at James Paddock.

Well that explains why the braided hose I bought from Robsport when I converted the Stag to manual was so ridiculously short I had to fit the slave cylinder upside down, a bugger to bleed. The second hand but newish master cylinder I got off fleabay was a saloon part. Also explains why I had to lengthen the pushrod

At least if it needs a seal kit I stand a better chance of ordering the right one

even the 2500 ones are hard to find now. strangely the mk1 2000 version with the integral master cylinders come up on ebay as nos but take a lot of messing about to make them fit, i think a landrover 110 will fit as well.

Its good to know thst several manifacturers are prepared to make new ones. 43 + vat not bad. Fitted said master cylinder no fookn joy. After several hours testing flushing pumping bleeding found brand new draided hose has a pin hole leak. "dont believe it" in victor meldrew voice. So didnt need new cylinder after all.
