Some toerag has ripped my hood!!

Overnight and outside my house I now have a lovely 15 inch rip in my hood!!! why oh why do these idiots do stuff like that

Basically where the hood attaches by the pillar its ripped from the bottom to the actual roof part. Its ripped along the seam where hood attaches to frame so will be a bitch to sew if we;re able to at all

I;m going away for a week in the morning as well!!

How much is a new hood fitted ?

I certainly feel your pain ! Years ago i had a nice Herald 13/60 conv, had a very nice new hood fitted, looked tremendous, 2 weeks later some t0sser did eactly the same thing to me - not a happy bunny.

I think SE trimmings advertise in the mag frame and cover at £720ish - if your frame is good then probably more like £350/£400 to have that done.

Chris (Vmad) on here may be able to help, Brian Turner (search forum for his new number) has an excellent reputation and does a top-class job (he did mine), a little more expensive then SE Trimming, but Brian would get my vote.

really feel for you mate, try VMAD he replaces them and revamps the frames too. to be honest you could be looking at 300 to 400, log onto rimmers, paddocks etc and also Aldridge trimming.Try to get a deal, could you fit it yourself, V-Mad is really helpful, i would get in touch with him first though.

No off to Portugal in the morning and then need to save for xmas so its come at a bad time!! I;ve messaged V Mad for an idea on price etc.

Not sure about fitting, I did a mk1 mx5 hood two years ago with frame still on car and swore blind I;d never do it again!!Depends on how difficult it is to do.

£380ish is that just hood price? seems expensive, I only paid £110 for a decent mx5 hood which isn;t that much smaller with a zipper window as well

I know what you mean about people ripping roofs. I had that happen to me at a car show once. I had a little hole above my head and came back to a bigger one.

I'll get some on way homem its just an akward spot where they;ve done it as when I drive a big hole due to wind blowing the whole section back appears.

Hi Graham,

i cant believe another owner would do something like that!! knowing how expensive they are, was he jealous of your car or just a complete twat! it makes me so mad, we spend our time money and energy looking after our cars and they do this, when people are caught they should be named and shamed, as for the kids in the street they should be made to pay for a replacement, or the parents should at least and then made to sweep the streets.
