Recommendations for a better Kenlowe switch

There must be a much better design of adjustable fan switch to replace the dog's breakfast that is supplied with the fan - sealing the capillary with that stupid wedgeis such a hit and miss affair, and with a system running at 20 psi especially difficult.

Any recommendations for a good alternative?

It can be difficult to get rid of 'Kenlowe drip' - I got fed up trying! I've fitted one of these from Revotec http://www.revotec.com/EFC25-38.htm - not cheap, but does the job. I suppose the alternative is to fit a boss to your radiatior and use a thermo switch.

and have just ordered on line nice you pay with pay pal if you have account

I measured the inside, which for my hoses were aprox 33/34 mm, I ordered the 32mm version, which is a nice fit.

Kryten, as your looking for a new Radiator (like me) why not have a boss fitted to the new rad and use a thermal switch? EJ ward sell them needing a 20mm boss!

I may go this route myself

Do I sense a bidding battle for the rad thats on e bay coming up? Do we need to step in and referee!

              I honestly couldn't say Stuart

In this case however it would do neither of us any good to get in a bidding war over it - so are you after it too then Jason?

                Jason.
I think you will find it 22mm.

Haven't seen you round recently, thought you had got a job.

I put one of these on my old Spitfire, really worked well and looked so much neater.

I stuck my kenlowe switch on Ebay and it made £20 so went a good way to paying for the new switch !

Russ, i may just go for a rad from EJ Ward, cant decide, if not i'll get mine recored. If i do this i might fit a thermal switch and a drain tap.

                    John, whats 2mm between friends??

Stuart, i'm sure i would lose, i haven't won on ebay for ages (perhaps i'm too tight!)

                      Hi John

I must confess that my boss has moved my targets for 2008 from 400K turnover to 675K turnover so I am under alot of pressure at the moment during the week to get sales however weekends are all mine!!!!!:P

Back on the thread I like the idea of getting the rad modified but how much will this cost?

                            That's alot of cutting tools!
I had my rad repaired, flushed and a thermoswitch boss fitted for £30 at local rad specialist.
