Renovo to the rescue

I bought 'Bluebelle' (yes she is called Bluebelle) knowing the hood was beyond its best and fully intending to replace, but since discovering Renovo I decided to colour and rewater-proof it as a cheaper option leaving the cash for other jobs.

This poor photo shows a very light canvas hood that let in a bit of water....

This is just one coat so far,I didn't like it after a few strokes but decided to keep going and to be honest am very pleased so far.

The next coat should even out some of the patching, then the next step is to water proof it and then its as good as new....almost

I'll second that, it is excellent stuff. I put on two coats of black followed by three of the waterproofer. Rain now beads up and rolls off. Unfortunately on my hood, some seam holes are open so I will always get some water coming in, but the Renovo certainly helps alot.

Would a black soft top be able to be coloured blue with this stuff ?As i have a white car with blue interior which looks nice and i think a blue soft top would set it off well.

Hi Steve

I'm going back a long way to A level chemistry here. Dyes add colour and effectively darken fabric, and black is as dark as you can go. You would need to bleach the fabric first.Bleaches lighten, but can destroy fabric and will destroy paint. You might get it to a green or orange colour, more likely a gooey mess of both. Most unlikelyyou wouldachieve an even colour for re dying. I wouldn't try it unless I knew I really needed a new hood anyway.

and here is the result after 3 coats, totalling 3 small bottles.

I have yet to do the actual waterproofing, this is just the colouring....

much improved !
