    Coolant Hoses

I changed all my hoses for Kevlar ones from Rimmers a couple of years ago and have to say am disappointed in them. They are starting to look a little rough and the top hose actuallysprang a leak and I had to put back the old one!

What are the recommendations on what to use and where to get them from ? What is the life expectancy of these hoses anyway ?

    Info appreciated.

      Hi Martin

I would recommend changing the Kevlar one's ASAP as I am sure it has been said on here they can give way without warning!

LD Parts or E J Ward do good hoses.

Having gone over to silicon i would never go back to normal hoses,If you have to undo the hoses after a period of time the silicon ones come apart easily unlike the rubber ones which sometimes weld themselves to the metal also there are 3 layers of reinforcement in the silicon ones.

        Cheers Steve

You need to change your hoses urgently.

If you leave the Kevlar ones on you are risking causing serious damage to your engine. The Kevlar hoses will fail and they are likely to fail in a major way.

For all the rubbish parts that have been sold to Stag owners over the years these ones sit firmly on the top of the pile.

Get youself a set of good quality braided hoses from somewhere like LD parts.

Just bought the E J Ward silicon set, not cheap but they do look the business !

Will be doing my biannual system flush soon and the standard hoses I replaced 4 years agot time arelooking tired and with the first signs of cracking - hoping the silicon ones will prove more durable.

Also getting the radiator modded with a M22boss and low inlet so I can fit a Merc header tank and a temperature warning alarm. I'm sticking with the standard gauge fed from the LD Parts non-standard sender but just want a warning buzzer if the temp ever decides to be naughty. All previous cooling problems long sincesolved

Thanks everyone for the news, I didnt realise the Kevalar ones were so poor, I assumed they would be tough and long lasting. Will look at the silicaone ones as an alternative and also check out LD Parts, I have used them befre and happy with what I have had.

                Thanks again
